Versatile Robotics

Robot-control-software that brings
robots closer to human performance

What we do

Versatile Robotics GmbH develops innovative control software that enables robots to operate safely while maintaining high precision, stability, and flexibility alongside humans. Conventional controllers often suffer from high adjustment efforts and instabilities like vibrations, overshoots, and limited precision, so that robots often remain slow and limited in their usability. Versatile Robotics' software overcomes these issues, allowing robots to move faster and more efficiently – without compromising safety in human-robot interaction

Safety included

Versatile's control algorithm provides the highest possible level of reliability and safety by avoiding any instabilities and singularities, in addition to advanced compliant behaviour for learning and interaction

Three essential things to master human performance

To achieve human performance, a robot must master three things simultaneously, which has not been possible until now. With the Versatile Robotics Software controller, we are the first to simultaneously implement all three aspects of human performance in robots:
Robot icon

Position

Positioning, i.e., being able to move to a position accurately—moving to a position with high precision and speed

User icon

Interaction 🚀

Being able to interact—i.e., grasping, processing, positioning, etc. objects sensitively, delicately, and safely.

Shield icon

Force

Exerting forces in a controlled manner—pushing, pulling, lifting, and processing objects

Our software controller implements all three performance criteria simultaneously and increases the performance of sensitive robots from 10% to up to 99%.

Dr. Johannes Englsberger, CEO – Strategy & Robotics

Foto von Johannes Englsberger
Dr. Johannes Englsberger is a robotics expert with over 15 years of experience in the field. As CEO of Versatile Robotics, he sets the strategic and technological direction of the company while managing key partnerships, customer relations, sales, and business development. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Control Systems from the TU Munich TUM. His robotics career began as a working student at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), where he developed a force-torque sensor for robotic fingertips. He later joined the DLR as a research associate and pursued a PhD in humanoid robotics, focusing on control strategies for dynamic walking and running, as well as full-body robot control. His groundbreaking doctoral research received international acclaim and was awarded the prestigious Georges Giralt PhD Award for the best European dissertation in robotics. Following his PhD, he was appointed Team Lead of the Legged Locomotion Team and Head of the Control Systems Group at DLR. Dr. Englsberger is the inventor of the patented MPTC control method, a core technology that underpins the company’s robotics platform and represents over a decade of development. He brings to the role not only deep technical expertise but also a strong international network in robotics research and industry.
